Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tapda Mattus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angel Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mattus comes to the cage accompanied by My heart. Ortiz has chosen My town as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mattus decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ortiz is looking for a sweep. Mattus is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ortiz preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Ortiz tries to get to full guard but Mattus has control of the leg.
Mattus stalling away here and it's allowed Ortiz to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Mattus wants to control from the top but Ortiz keeps moving.

Mattus drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ortiz looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ortiz looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ortiz!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ortiz is working Mattus over with some ground and pound from side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ortiz postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Mattus badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Ortiz around the waist but Ortiz pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Ortiz is the winner by TKO! Ortiz jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

After the fight, Angel Ortiz was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
