Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Troy Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Troy Powers!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powers misses with a jab to the body
and Rogers connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Rogers throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Powers sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Powers scores with a hook to the body. Rogers takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Sam Rogers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rogers changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Powers tries to avoid it but Rogers manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Powers to the ground. Powers escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Rogers looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Powers is fending him off so far but Rogers persists. Nope, Powers circles away and we're back to standing.

and Rogers counters with a left to the body.
Powers's corner calls for a 1-2. Powers obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Rogers ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice defenses there by Rogers.
Powers throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Rogers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Powers sprawls well. Powers wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rogers gets slowly back to his feet.

and Powers counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Powers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rogers is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
We've been informed that Rogers has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Rogers falls off balance throwing a combination
and Powers counters with a stiff right hand.
Powers swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rogers is trying hard to land a takedown here. Powers sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Powers fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Rogers on the side of the head.
Powers moves out of range of the strikes.
Rogers on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
The fighters circling - Powers throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Rogers throws a right and a left that Powers avoids nicely.

Powers cracks Rogers with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Powers has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Rogers to stand back up!

Powers jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Troy Powers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rogers bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Powers swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Powers lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Rogers feints and as Powers raises his hands in defense, Rogers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Powers is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rogers can do to turn this around?

Troy Powers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Powers bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rogers's guard.

Rogers tries to score a power double leg takedown but Powers sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rogers somewhat.

Rogers looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Powers is fending him off so far but Rogers persists. Nope, Powers circles away and we're back to standing.

Rogers closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Powers did well to prevent Rogers getting side control.
Powers is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Rogers is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Powers doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rogers.
Powers moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Rogers looks to land a right hand but Powers moved out of range.

Rogers might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Rogers steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Powers.
Rogers ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Powers moves away.

and Powers counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Powers throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Rogers shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Powers is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rogers.

Rogers uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Powers.

Rogers has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Rogers there as he acknowledges the shot.

and Powers counters with a big right hand! Oh Rogers is in trouble here! Powers follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
