PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Piston Honda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tiger Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Black comes into a darkened arena with his song building. tattoos + Jewelery kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, John Mangel and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Honda throws a leg kick but Black moved away.
Black shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Honda as he jumps to the side.
The fighters circle momentarily. Honda darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Black forces Honda back against the cage and clinches.
Honda is pressed up against the cage. Black has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Honda down to the mat. Honda avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Honda scoring well with a low kick there.
Honda scores with a hook.
Honda takes a swing at Black's ribcage but misses.
Black moves out of range as Honda strikes.
Honda throws a body kick that misses.
Black keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Honda lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Honda throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Black sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Honda keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Piston Honda has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tiger Black.
Black will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Black tries for a takedown but Honda sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Black shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Black showed some decent athleticism there.
Black wants to control but Honda is keeping him busy.
Honda is trying to maintain the position but Black is very close to passing his half guard.
Black has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Black is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Honda can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Black slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Honda takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Black throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Honda is trying to get back to his feet but Black has full control of the position and if anything, Honda has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Honda is really stuck here.
Black has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Black cracks Honda with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Honda from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Honda rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Black moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Black decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Black thows a huge punch but Honda dodges it nicely.
Honda knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Black on the ground.

Black decides to stand and escape the position.
Black takes one to the chin there.
Black tries for a takedown but Honda sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Honda swings for the body but Black moves out of range.
Black avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Black shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Black was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Black moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Honda has worked his arm free - good work by Honda!

Black tries to score with some ground and pound. Honda controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Black tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Black goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Honda rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Black's guard! Nice work there by Honda!
Black wants to sweep here but Honda controlling him for the moment.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Honda postures up.
Honda wanted to stand there but Black had control of the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Honda throws a hook but Black avoids it easily.

Black darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Black seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Honda does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Black seems to be looking for submissions.

Honda avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Black.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Black closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Black in side control, throwing shots but Honda defends.

Tiger Black showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Honda's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Black slips a jab and a cross from Honda.

Black turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Black manages to end up in side control.

Black stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Honda throws a right and a left that both miss.

Honda throws a leg kick but Black sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Black fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Honda sprawls well initially but Black persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Black is thwarting Honda's attempts to control the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Honda gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Honda motions for Black to come forward. Honda throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Black uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Honda.

Honda has had enough of the clinch but Black keeps him there for the moment.

Black fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Honda is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Black.

Honda is trying to break the clinch but Black has him pressed against the cage.
