The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manres blocks a head kick by McDonald.
Manres takes a body punch but keeps moving.
McDonald tries to land a front kick but Manres steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
McDonald is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Manres checks a leg kick.
We've been hearing reports that Manres has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
McDonald misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McDonald dips to his left and cracks Manres with an uppercut!
McDonald works the jab nicely.
McDonald fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Manres.
McDonald pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Manres moves out of range of the body kick.
Manres takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McDonald dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Manres. That did some damage!
Maurice McDonald seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McDonald fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Manres on the side of the head.

A swing and a miss from McDonald.
McDonald defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Manres.
Manres walks straight into a right hand from McDonald - that's dropped him! McDonald jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Manres from any more punishment! Manres complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
