PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Lidell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Jones will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chuck Lidell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Jones!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, David Schapiro and Reed Andrews.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lidell circles away.

Lidell darts in and clinches Jones up against the cage.
Jones tries a knee to the head but Lidell blocks it.
Lidell is pressed up against the cage. Jones has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lidell down to the mat. Lidell avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jones fails with the takedown
and Lidell counters with a two punch combo.
Chuck Lidell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Jones.
Lidell lands with a straight right. Jones didn't see that one coming.
Jones slips a jab and a cross from Lidell.
Lidell catches Jones with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lidell tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lidell to the ground. Lidell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Lidell sends Jones crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Lidell is motioning to the referee to let Jones up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Jones is rocked!

It looks like John Jones has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones darts in looking for a takedown but Lidell gets double underhooks and turns Jones into the cage.
A short body shot lands from Lidell as the two fighters clinch.
Jones looks winded!
Lidell lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Lidell's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Lidell sends Jones crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Lidell is motioning to the referee to let Jones up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Jones is still on wobbly legs! Can Lidell finish him?
Lidell seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Jones walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Jones limp body while Lidell jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Chuck Lidell!
