The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vanzetti will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rose.
Rose catches Vanzetti with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rose stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Vanzetti to get to his feet.

and Rose counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Vanzetti gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rose to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Rose stands up over Vanzetti, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Vanzetti knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rose on the ground.

Rose moves into full mount! Vanzetti won't be happy about that!

Rose has control of Vanzetti's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Vanzetti regains control of the situation pretty easily.

It looks like Sacco Vanzetti has been cut.

Rose with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Rose lands a big shot there that rocks Vanzetti but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Sacco Vanzetti's cut is getting worse.
Rose softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Vanzetti is out cold! Rose jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!

After winning the bout, Derick Rose thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
