PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jeremy Zwiers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyson Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jeremy Zwiers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tyson Walker!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Bart Greer and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Zwiers paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Zwiers misses the shot to the body.
Zwiers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Walker sprawls well. Walker wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Zwiers gets slowly back to his feet.
Zwiers scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Walker shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Zwiers is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zwiers trying to hold on to Walker's head to control him but Walker postures up.
Zwiers taking some punishment here, with Walker in his half guard.
Zwiers really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Walker decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Walker slaps away a takedown attempt from Zwiers, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Walker shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Zwiers's guard.
Walker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zwiers swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Zwiers is working an open guard so Walker takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Zwiers gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Walker counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeremy Zwiers. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zwiers trying to keep a closed guard but Walker is proving a slippery customer.
Zwiers will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Walker trying to control the position from guard on top but Zwiers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Walker with a flurry of punches that miss.
Walker passes into half guard.
Zwiers wants to control but Walker is keeping busy.

Walker slips a nice elbow through Zwiers's hands, connecting with Zwiers's forehead.

Walker stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Walker throws a half hearted mid kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Walker.
Zwiers shoots in and drives through. Walker sprawls well.
Zwiers is breathing heavily.
Walker throws a leg kick but Zwiers moved away.
Walker avoids the head kick by Zwiers.
Walker gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Zwiers counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Walker is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Walker closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Zwiers quickly recovers to half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Zwiers tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Walker passes the guard and advances to mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zwiers can't escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyson Walker dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Walker wants to clinch up but Zwiers keeps it at a distance.

Walker shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Walker is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Zwiers defends it well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Walker in particular looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walker is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Zwiers still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Zwiers has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Walker wants to control but Zwiers postures up.
Walker is trying to get back to half guard.
Walker is trying to control Zwiers's posture but Zwiers avoids it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Walker holds on to Zwiers's head and controls the position momentarily.
Walker is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Zwiers has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Walker regains half guard.

Zwiers looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Zwiers decides to stand and escape the position.
Walker is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Zwiers stuffs the takedown attempt from Walker. Walker gets slowly back to his feet.
Nice sprawl there from Zwiers as Walker shoots in.
Sloppy strikes from Walker. Those never looked like landing.
Zwiers lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Zwiers is defended easily by Walker.
Zwiers fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Walker avoids it really well and circles away.

Zwiers shoots in for a double leg but Walker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeremy Zwiers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Walker misses with a head kick.
Zwiers goes for a double leg but Walker avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Walker continues to drive forward.
A bit of stalling here from Zwiers.

Zwiers breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Walker fails with an attempt to clinch.
Zwiers stuffs the takedown attempt from Walker. Walker gets slowly back to his feet.
Walker tries for a takedown but Zwiers sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jeremy Zwiers will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Walker shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Walker showed some decent athleticism there.

Walker closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Walker passes to full mount!
Zwiers is desperately trying to improve his position but Walker has a good base and remains in mount.
Walker lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Zwiers hang on?
Walker is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Zwiers can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Tyson Walker has got the better of the ground game so far.

Zwiers is in a horrible position here. Walker smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Zwiers tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Zwiers is squirming around, avoiding Walker's attempts to control the action.
Zwiers is trying to reverse the position but instead Walker has taken his back - oops!
Walker tries to keep control of the position but Zwiers is staying busy.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Walker. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Walker wants to control but Zwiers is keeping busy.
Walker has good solid back control here.

Walker working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Walker has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Zwiers.
Zwiers trying to control the action but Walker just sinks the hooks in.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tyson Walker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Walker has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
