Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Hess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keijo Harkimo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hess comes to the cage accompanied by Demiurge. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jon Hess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Keijo Harkimo!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harkimo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hess.
A telegraphed right hand from Harkimo misses the target.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Hess keeps the fight on the outside.
Hess pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Hess throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Harkimo scores with a jab to the jaw.
Harkimo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hess jabs Harkimo to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Harkimo fails to land with a series of punches.
Harkimo connects with a high kick.


It looks like Jon Hess has been cut.
Hess tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Hess misses with a two punch combination.
Hess keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Hess throws out a leg kick but Harkimo moves out of range and Hess only half commits.
A punch combination from Harkimo misses.
A slow jab from Harkimo misses its intended target.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hess thumps Harkimo with a low kick.
Harkimo takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Hess walks into a straight right hand from Harkimo.

Harkimo misses with a body shot.
Hess throws a head kick that misses.
Harkimo has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Harkimo thows a leg kick but Hess checks it
and Hess counters with a right hand to the body.
Hess missing with a left hand there. Harkimo was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Hess lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
We've been told by Hess's head coaches at Outer Heaven Dojo that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Harkimo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Harkimo throws a right hand that Hess ducks under and follows up with a left that Hess also avoids with ease.
Hess misses with a jab to the body
and Harkimo counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Hess looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Hess takes one on the button.
Hess tries a head kick but it misses.
Hess connects with a looping right hand.
Harkimo uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hess.
Hess jabs Harkimo right on the nose. Harkimo blinks but takes it well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Harkimo pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Hess lands a nice leg kick that just misses Harkimo's sensitive parts.
Harkimo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hess throws a leg kick which misses Harkimo's front leg but catches the back leg as Harkimo tries to avoid it.
Hess tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Harkimo was well out of range. Poor timing from Hess.
Hess lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Hess turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Hess! Harkimo is out on his feet! Hess rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Harkimo is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Harkimo is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jon Hess!
