PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pope Fish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chance Silver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pope Fish!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chance Silver!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silver tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fish paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Silver connects with a body shot.
Fish fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
We've been hearing reports that Fish has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Silver slips a jab from Fish.
Silver misses with an uppercut. Fish saw that one coming.
Pope Fish seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silver avoids a punch combination nicely.
Fish throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Silver takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Fish enables Silver to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fish manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Silver throws a strike but Fish rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Fish stands and steps away. Silver gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Fish works the jab nicely.
Fish throws a body shot but no joy.
Fish swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Fish fails to land with a series of punches.
Silver throws a body punch but Fish moves out of range.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Fish lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Silver has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Silver and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

A decent looking cross lands there for Silver.
Fish misses with a low kick.
Fish throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Silver shoots in but Fish avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Silver counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Silver prevents Fish from getting back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Silver closes the distance and clinches up with Fish, looking for a takedown. Silver pushes Fish against the cage but Fish circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Silver shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Silver postures up in Fish's guard and throws a big left but Fish blocks it.

Fish is looking to stand up but Silver isn't so interested in that idea.

Silver fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Fish sprawls well initially but Silver persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Silver stalling away here and it's allowed Fish to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Silver can do anything to dispel that myth.

Fish is looking to stand up but Silver won't let him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silver is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

A close round but Chance Silver will probably get the nod.

Silver tries to advance to mount but can't.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Silver looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fish with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Silver connects with a body shot that sends Fish's belly button to the back.
Fish tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Silver takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Fish takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Silver tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Fish defends well and Silver ends up having to push Fish into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Silver turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Silver manages to end up in side control.
Silver looks up at the clock and then as Fish takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Silver smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Silver misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Fish is not content to let Silver control the position.
Fish wants to get back to his feet but Silver is dominant here and he's now got Fish's back!

Chance Silver showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

and Silver counters with a shoot takedown. Fish fights it but they end up in guard.

I've got Silver winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
