PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ueki Boku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jan Angel Echano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jan Angel Echano will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ueki Boku!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jan Angel Echano!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Echano clinches up against the cage.

Echano is pressed up against the cage. Boku has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Echano down to the mat. Echano avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Echano lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Boku fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Echano to the ground. Boku is now in Echano's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boku is looking to work some ground and pound but Echano has wrist control.

Boku passes Echano's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Echano manages to get to full guard.
Boku is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Boku looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Boku shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Echano napping and manages to drive through into side control!

We've been informed that Echano has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Boku is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Echano is aware though and is defending well.

Boku escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Echano gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ueki Boku will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Echano keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Boku shoots in for a double leg but Echano sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Boku is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Boku shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Echano manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Echano wants to stand and escape but Boku is having none of it.
Boku slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Echano pushes Boku off looking to stand but Boku dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Boku tries to pass the half guard into mount. Echano knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Boku is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Echano gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Boku wants to control from the top but Echano keeps moving.
Boku is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Echano is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Boku closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Echano did well to prevent Boku getting side control.
Echano looks like he's trying to stand up.

Boku decides to stand back up. Boku steps back and let's Echano get back to his feet.

Echano moves into the clinch.
Echano fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Boku has hold of one of Echano's legs. Echano is fighting the takedown attempt but Boku gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ueki Boku showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Boku, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
