PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nate Daaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cana Dollar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nate Daaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cana Dollar!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daaz looks for the body kick but Dollar saw that one coming.
Daaz tries to clinch up.

Dollar feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Dollar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Daaz holds on and takes a little breather.
Daaz throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Dollar wants to stand but Daaz has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Daaz trying to keep a closed guard but Dollar is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dollar stays in close to Daaz's body and controls the position.
Dollar looks gassed!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Daaz throws a sloppy head kick and Dollar moves out of range easily.
Daaz throws the kick towards the body but Dollar avoids it.
Dollar keeps the fight on the outside.
Dollar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dollar tries to clinch up but Daaz circles away and keeps his distance.
Dollar moves in looking to clinch but Daaz pushes him off.

Dollar darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Daaz is looking to control Dollar's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Daaz avoid being mounted?

Daaz looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dollar is trying to control the action in half guard but Daaz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Daaz slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Daaz is on top in guard.
Daaz seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Daaz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Dollar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Daaz landing with the ground and pound.

Daaz drops back looking for a leg! Dollar is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dollar manages to kick Daaz off! Daaz jumps back into Dollar's guard.

Daaz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Daaz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Daaz advances position into side control!

Daaz looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Daaz is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dollar has escaped the position, nice work there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dollar sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Cana Dollar will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Daaz just misses with a punch to the body.
Daaz scores with a nice head shot.
Daaz throws the kick towards the body but Dollar avoids it.
Daaz throws a leg kick that misses.
Daaz looks to clinch

so Dollar counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Daaz had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Dollar is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Daaz Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Dollar's back instead.
Dollar looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Dollar rolls, trying to escape but Daaz keeps control of the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Daaz is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Dollar is tapping out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Nate Daaz!
