Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rey Johnston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Hunter has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rey Johnston's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Hunter!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnston tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hunter closes the distance but Johnston moves to the side

and Johnston counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Johnston.

Johnston has hold of one of Hunter's legs. Hunter is fighting the takedown attempt but Johnston gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Hunter throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Johnston decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Johnston closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hunter quickly recovers to half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Hunter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Johnston's waist but Johnston gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hunter off to one side.

Hunter tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Johnston manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Johnston tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hunter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Johnston somewhat.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rey Johnston will probably get the nod.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnston, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
