Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Psycho Vaughan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rick Thomas is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Psycho Vaughan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rick Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Vaughan tries to keep at a distance but Thomas has taken the fight into the clinch.
Vaughan definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Vaughan.
Vaughan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Thomas just stands there and leans against the ropes.
Vaughan misses with the head strike.

Vaughan breaks from the clinch.

Vaughan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vaughan lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Thomas is looking for a triangle but Vaughan pushes his legs off easily.
Vaughan looking to sit in guard and control but Thomas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vaughan looking for a sweep. Not yet Vaughan, not yet.
Vaughan managing to control the position.

Thomas trying to control the position from guard on top but Vaughan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vaughan pulls Thomas in to control the position.
Thomas trying to control but Vaughan is working from the bottom.
Thomas is fighting to break Vaughan's control of his arms but Vaughan is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Thomas wants to pass the guard but Vaughan is keeping the position.

Vaughan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Vaughan seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Thomas throws a push kick but Vaughan slaps the foot to one side.
Thomas shoots in for a takedown but Vaughan shows good takedown defense.
Vaughan scores with a decent looking hook.
Thomas lands with a hook. Vaughan tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Thomas tries to clinch but Vaughan moves out of range.
Thomas moves in looking to clinch but Vaughan pushes him off.
Vaughan throws a hook but Thomas blocks it.
Thomas shoots in looking for a takedown. Vaughan tries to sprawl out of it but Thomas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Vaughan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Thomas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vaughan as he jumps to the side.
Psycho Vaughan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick Thomas.
Thomas shoots in but no luck this time.
Thomas looks winded!
Vaughan throws a leg kick but Thomas sees it coming and moves out of range.
Thomas takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Vaughan throws a series of strikes that have Thomas backpedaling.


It looks like Rick Thomas has been cut.

Vaughan looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Vaughan is keen to just control but Thomas is a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Vaughan drops an elbow to the side of Thomas's head.
Vaughan working Thomas over with strikes.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Vaughan connects with a nice short shot to Thomas's temple.

Vaughan is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Vaughan lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Thomas won't allow Vaughan to pass to mount.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Vaughan lands strikes from half guard.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Vaughan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Vaughan drops an elbow to the side of Thomas's head.

Thomas is not content to let Vaughan control the position.
Vaughan lands strikes from half guard.

Thomas is in trouble now - Vaughan has advanced to mount!

Vaughan landing strikes from the mount and Thomas is in trouble!
Vaughan is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Thomas can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Vaughan lands a heavy elbow.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
BOOM! Vaughan connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Vaughan looking to control but Thomas is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Vaughan is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Thomas is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Vaughan lands a big elbow - Thomas is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Thomas is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Psycho Vaughan!
A relieved looking Psycho Vaughan thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
