PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mustaffa Spliff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michal Tarnowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tarnowski has chosen Hemp Gru - Sami swoi as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 41 - 43 - 0, fighting out of London, Mustaffa Spliff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michal Tarnowski!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Franklyn Lucas and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tarnowski misses with a double jab.
Spliff tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Tarnowski manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Spliff wants to clinch
and Tarnowski counters with a stiff right hand.
Spliff is looking to clinch.
Tarnowski lands a nice hook to Spliff's body. Spliff takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Spliff tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Tarnowski connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Spliff moves out of range of the body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Spliff checks the leg kick.
Tarnowski throws a lazy right hand but Spliff sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Spliff uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Tarnowski.
Spliff wants to clinch but Tarnowski slips to the side
and Tarnowski counters with a nice body shot.
Spliff walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Spliff drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Tarnowski gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Tarnowski is trying to pull guard but Spliff turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Spliff misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Spliff avoids the elbow strike from Tarnowski, against the cage.
Tarnowski struggles to land a body shot inside as Spliff controls his hands.
Spliff slowing the pace effectively.
Spliff misses with a short punch on the inside.
Tarnowski's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Spliff stalling in the clinch but Tarnowski improves position.

Spliff's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Tarnowski dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Spliff. That did some damage!

Spliff tries to clinch up but Tarnowski circles away and keeps his distance.

Tarnowski avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Tarnowski counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Spliff pushes Tarnowski off looking to stand but Tarnowski dives back in and keeps control.

Spliff manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Tarnowski keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

A nice right hand lands inside from Spliff.
Tarnowski scores with a shot to the side of Spliff's head.
Spliff throws an elbow but it misses.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Spliff misses with a hook from the clinch.
Spliff wants to stall.
Spliff misses with a hook to the ribs.
Spliff throws a head punch that misses.
Tarnowski working some nice short punches in the clinch.

Spliff blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Spliff stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Spliff wants it to stay on the feet.

Spliff wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Tarnowski manages to pass to side control.

Tarnowski thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Spliff's head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Tarnowski counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Tarnowski throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Spliff to counter with a crisp jab.
Spliff tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Tarnowski has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Tarnowski creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Spliff sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tarnowski connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Spliff some visible discomfort.
Spliff is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Tarnowski asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Tarnowski tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tarnowski has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Spliff tries to escape but Tarnowski is in control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Spliff clinches up with Tarnowski and pushes him back against the cage.
Tarnowski tries to work over Spliff's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Tarnowski has a couple of punches blocked by Spliff.
Tarnowski lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Spliff backwards.

and Tarnowski counters with a shoot takedown. Spliff fights it but they end up in guard.

Tarnowski drops back looking for a leg! Spliff is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Spliff manages to kick Tarnowski off! Tarnowski jumps back into Spliff's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michal Tarnowski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Spliff parries the strikes from Tarnowski easily there. Tarnowski is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Spliff to escape.

Spliff is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Tarnowski has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Tarnowski misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
