Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexey Turshatov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pyotr Korobeikin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Turshatov comes to the cage accompanied by War And Peace. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexey Turshatov!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pyotr Korobeikin!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turshatov tries to close the distance and clinch but Korobeikin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Korobeikin has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Turshatov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Korobeikin throws a jab but it's blocked by Turshatov.

Korobeikin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Turshatov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Korobeikin tries for a kimura but Turshatov is defending well.
Turshatov is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Korobeikin's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Turshatov is trying to control but can't.
Korobeikin not doing much here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Turshatov slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Turshatov looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Korobeikin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Turshatov is keeping the position for now.
Turshatov controls Korobeikin momentarily but Korobeikin frees himself.
Korobeikin trying to control but Turshatov is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Korobeikin is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Turshatov is trying to keep Korobeikin in close.
Korobeikin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Turshatov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Turshatov working for a triangle but Korobeikin defends it easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Turshatov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Korobeikin tries to free his leg and advance position but Turshatov is retaining full guard.

Turshatov isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Korobeikin stacks Turshatov on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Korobeikin!
Turshatov is holding Korobeikin down, trying to stall.
Turshatov can't do much from the bottom here.

Korobeikin is looking to take a break and control but Turshatov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Turshatov wants to control but Korobeikin postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Korobeikin is staying tight to Turshatov's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Turshatov sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Korobeikin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Turshatov knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Turshatov is refusing to be controlled, as Korobeikin sits in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Korobeikin wants to free his trapped foot but Turshatov is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Turshatov is pressing down on Korobeikin's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Turshatov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Korobeikin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Turshatov is tightening it up a little... Korobeikin has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Korobeikin reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Korobeikin taps out! Nice BJJ there by Turshatov!
