PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Dynamite (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw fails to land the takedown.
Dynamite throws a right and a left that both miss.
Dynamite wants to land a leg kick but Shaw is out of range.
A jab lands there for Dynamite.

Shaw scores with a takedown into Dynamite's guard.

Shaw is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Dynamite can't keep his opponent in guard - Shaw advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Shaw seems to be working for a kimura but Dynamite defends the submission attempt.

Shaw is looking to pass Dynamite's guard but actually Dynamite recovers to full guard.

Shaw postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dynamite is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Shaw, into his guard.

Shaw escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dynamite gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Dynamite trying to control the position from guard on top but Shaw is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Shaw escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dynamite gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Shaw is looking for a triangle here but Dynamite uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Dynamite knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shaw on the ground.
Shaw is trying to escape the position but Dynamite is controlling the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Shaw is not content to let Dynamite control the position.
Shaw regains half guard.
Shaw wants to improve his position but Dynamite is controlling well.

Shaw looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dynamite is fending him off so far but Shaw persists. Nope, Dynamite circles away and we're back to standing.
Shaw shoots in for a double leg but Dynamite sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Shaw should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dynamite lands with a straight right. Shaw didn't see that one coming.
Shaw tries to close the distance and clinch but Dynamite swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Simon Shaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dynamite scores with a jab to the head.

Shaw fails with a takedown attempt.
Dynamite fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Shaw looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dynamite is fending him off so far but Shaw persists. Nope, Dynamite circles away and we're back to standing.

Shaw shoots in but no luck this time.
No luck for Shaw with that takedown attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Shaw shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dynamite as he jumps to the side.

enabling Dynamite to counter with a crisp jab.
Paul Dynamite is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Shaw takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Dynamite scores with a jab to the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Dynamite dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
