PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lyman Mullins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Crosher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Lyman Mullins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Matt Crosher!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crosher fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Crosher closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mullins circles away.
Crosher goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Crosher changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mullins tries to avoid it but Crosher manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mullins to the ground. Mullins escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lyman Mullins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Crosher.
Mullins tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Crosher counters with a three punch combo that has Mullins backing up. Mullins nods at Crosher to acknowledge the strikes.
Crosher is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Crosher goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Crosher throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mullins tries to clinch there but Crosher circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Crosher.
Crosher shoots for a double leg takedown but Mullins sprawls well. He's pushed Crosher's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Crosher misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Mullins tries a head kick but it misses.
Crosher throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Crosher changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mullins tries to avoid it but Crosher manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mullins to the ground. Mullins escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Crosher tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mullins defends well and Crosher ends up having to push Mullins into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Mullins lands a right hand that snaps the head of Crosher backwards.
Crosher blocks an elbow strike from Mullins.
Crosher tries to score a body lock takedown but Mullins shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Mullins is pushing Crosher up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Mullins has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Crosher avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Mullins crunches a lovely knee into Crosher's ribcage.

Crosher jumps guard but Mullins stands there with Crosher around his waist. Crosher gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Mullins lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Crosher wants a takedown.
Mullins lands an elbow inside that Crosher shrugs off.
Mullins misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Crosher.

Crosher is fighting off a takedown attempt but Mullins is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Crosher to the mat. Crosher regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Crosher is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Mullins in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Crosher working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mullins doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mullins manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Mullins wants to stand but Crosher has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Crosher has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mullins is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Crosher.

Mullins decides to stand back up.
Mullins has a takedown stuffed.
Mullins blocks a head kick by Crosher.
Crosher stuffs the takedown.

Crosher shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mullins looking to hit a scissor sweep but Crosher is one step ahead there.

Crosher trying to control the position from guard on top but Mullins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mullins might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Crosher in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Mullins pulls Crosher in to control the position.
Crosher scoring with punches to the head and body.
Mullins has control of Crosher's left arm, preventing Crosher from doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Matt Crosher will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Mullins tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Crosher manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Crosher throws a nice looking combination but Mullins bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Crosher keeps the fight on the outside.
Crosher tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mullins sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Crosher somewhat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Crosher shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mullins pinned against the cage. Mullins gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Mullins tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Crosher swivels and escapes.
Matt Crosher seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Mullins moves in looking to clinch but Crosher pushes him off.
Mullins wants to clinch up but Crosher keeps it at a distance.

Horrible takedown attempt by Crosher or perhaps it was just good defense by Mullins, which made it look bad.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Crosher throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mullins's waist but Mullins gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Crosher off to one side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Crosher showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Crosher looks to land a combination but Mullins avoids it well.
Mullins slaps away a takedown attempt from Crosher, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mullins tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Crosher paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mullins leaves Crosher with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Crosher tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mullins sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Crosher somewhat.

Mullins shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Crosher is trying to defend but Mullins finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lyman Mullins.
I think Crosher has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
