Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Wise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Hampton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dennis Wise!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Hampton!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hampton rushes Wise and presses him up against the cage.
Hampton tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Wise smiles and moves away.
Wise lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Wise will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Wise throws a series of punches but Hampton moves out of range.
Dennis Wise seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wise's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Wise duly obliges.

Hampton fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wise sprawls well initially but Hampton persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hampton throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hampton working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Hampton stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Wise to get to his feet.
Wise is breathing heavily.
Hampton throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wise's waist but Wise gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hampton off to one side.

Hampton clinches up against the cage.
Hampton doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Wise is trying to break free.

Hampton manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Wise has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Hampton not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hampton seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Hampton is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Hampton manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wise manages to get himself to full guard.

Hampton controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hampton has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hampton postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Hampton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hampton slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Hampton lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Wise down.

Wise takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hampton lands a nice forearm strike.
Hampton looks up at the clock and then as Wise takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Hampton smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Hampton is putting a hurting on Wise here, landing some big shots from side control.
Hampton is chipping away with strikes.
Hampton lands a nice forearm strike.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hampton scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Wise to see if he's OK.
Hampton is chipping away with strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Hampton dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Hampton shoots in for a double leg but Wise sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Wise closes the distance but Hampton moves to the side

and Hampton counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Wise!

Wise is rocked!
Hampton lands a big shot there that rocks Wise but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Oh Wise is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hampton loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Wise scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Hampton land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Hampton stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Hampton!
