Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joel Nicola!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Matheus Dubin!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, David Hoff and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nicola scores with a shot to the body.
Nicola throws a head kick but Dubin moves out of range.
Dubin fails with a takedown attempt.
Nicola punishes Dubin's body with a nice straight punch.
Nicola getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Nicola lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
A cross from Nicola lands.
Dubin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Nicola but Nicola pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Dubin wants to clinch up but Nicola keeps it at a distance.
Dubin tries to clinch but Nicola is having none of it.
Dubin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nicola tries to avoid it but Dubin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nicola to the ground. Nicola escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Joel Nicola has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matheus Dubin.
Nicola lands a jab to Dubin's midsection.
Dubin looks winded!
Nicola scores with a sloppy right hand. Dubin should have avoided that one.
It looks like Matheus Dubin has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nicola stuffs the takedown attempt from Dubin. Dubin gets slowly back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Dubin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Nicola dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Nicola lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Nicola lands with a shot to the body.
Nicola ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Nicola cracks Dubin with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Dubin tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Nicola pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Dubin is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joel Nicola!
