PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Battle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Punk Destroy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Punk Destroy looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Anderson Battle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Punk Destroy!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Battle fails with a takedown attempt.
Destroy lands a nice shot to the body.

Destroy scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Battle wants to control but Destroy is keeping busy.
Destroy content to control rather than advance.
Destroy tries to pass to full mount but Battle defends it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Battle wants to get back to his feet.
Destroy is trying to control the action in half guard but Battle is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Battle could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Destroy stalling.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Destroy gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Battle jumps guard but Destroy stands there with Battle around his waist. Battle gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Destroy gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Battle regains guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Battle has his foot on Destroy's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Destroy works his way back into a safe position though.
Destroy postures up in Battle's guard and throws a big left but Battle blocks it.
Destroy throws a big elbow that misses.
Destroy sitting in guard here, content to control.
Destroy missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Battle working for a triangle but Destroy defends it easily.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Destroy is looking to advance position but Battle has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Battle is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Battle avoids the attempt from Destroy to control.
Destroy is wriggling around trying to escape.
Destroy wants to control but Battle is having none of it.

Battle goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Destroy turns into him and now he's in Battle's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Battle has an active guard here but Destroy has managed to pass into half guard.
Battle scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Destroy manages to mount him!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Destroy looking to control and managing it successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Punk Destroy dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Destroy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Battle looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Destroy stands up and beckons Battle to his feet.

Destroy shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Destroy content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Destroy not landing any meaningful shots this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Destroy is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Battle is just riding it out for now. Destroy eventually gives up the hold.
Destroy moves nicely into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Destroy tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Destroy misses with the ground and pound.
Destroy taking a breather here.
Battle pushes Destroy away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Destroy gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Destroy throwing strikes but Battle manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Battle tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Destroy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Battle throws an elbow but Destroy slips to the side and avoids it well.

Battle has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Destroy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Destroy takes the fight into the clinch.
A right hook to the body lands for Destroy.
Battle is trying to pull guard but Destroy turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A frustrated look appears on Battle's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Battle is fighting off a takedown attempt but Destroy is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Battle to the mat. Battle regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Destroy trying to control the position from guard on top but Battle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Destroy working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Punk Destroy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Sloppy strikes from Destroy. Those never looked like landing.
Destroy fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Battle tries to clinch up
enabling Destroy to counter with a crisp jab.
Destroy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Battle shoots in and drives through. Destroy sprawls well.

Destroy fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Battle sprawls well initially but Destroy persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Battle is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Destroy pulls his head out easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Destroy decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Anderson Battle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Destroy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Battle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Destroy tries to avoid it but Battle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Destroy to the ground. Destroy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Destroy wants to clinch
and Battle counters with a series of strikes. Destroy will be more careful next time no doubt.
Destroy scores with a leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Destroy closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Battle quickly recovers to half guard.

Destroy is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Destroy is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Destroy is trying to control. Battle wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Battle is trying to get back to full guard.
Destroy wants to pass to mount but Battle is defending the position.
Destroy moves nicely into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Destroy tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Destroy has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Destroy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Destroy shoots in and gets a takedown into Battle's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Punk Destroy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Destroy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
