PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quinn Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomaz Emilianko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson comes into the arena with Ice Cube - It Was a Dood Day blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quinn Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tomaz Emilianko!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson misses with a looping right.
Emilianko shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side.

Emilianko gets the takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Johnson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Johnson is trying to improve his position.

Johnson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Emilianko wants to control but Johnson is keeping him busy.

Johnson wants to get back to his feet but Emilianko drags him back down.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Johnson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Emilianko takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Johnson lands a glancing blow to the side of Emilianko's head.
Emilianko shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Johnson pinned against the cage. Johnson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Emilianko avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Emilianko bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Emilianko prevents Johnson from escaping the position.
Johnson is not content to let Emilianko control the position.
Johnson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Johnson tries to get out of the position.

Johnson seems a little lost for a moment, as Emilianko dominates the positioning.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Emilianko shoots in and drives through. Johnson sprawls well.

Quinn Johnson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Emilianko. Johnson shrugs it off though.

Emilianko bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Emilianko shoots in and drives through. Johnson sprawls well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson throws a front kick aimed at Emilianko's knee but Emilianko avoids it well.

Quinn Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tomaz Emilianko.
Emilianko moves out of range of the strikes.
Emilianko shoots in looking for a takedown. Johnson tries to sprawl out of it but Emilianko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Johnson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Emilianko shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Johnson but Johnson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Emilianko shoots in but Johnson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
No joy there for Johnson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Johnson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Johnson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Johnson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Emilianko moves away.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Emilianko.
A big left from Johnson misses.
No luck for Emilianko with that takedown attempt.
Johnson stuffs the takedown attempt from Emilianko. Emilianko gets slowly back to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Emilianko misses the jab.
Johnson throws a series of punches but Emilianko moves out of range.
Johnson misses with a body kick.
Johnson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Emilianko at a distance.
Emilianko moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Johnson attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Johnson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quinn Johnson dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Emilianko shoots in but Johnson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Johnson misses with a series of wild punches.

Johnson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Johnson looks to land a left hand but Emilianko moved out of range nicely.
Johnson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Emilianko backs up against the cage.

Emilianko takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Johnson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Emilianko has time to react.

Johnson throws a shot from downtown. Emilianko moves away and avoids it.
Emilianko checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Johnson lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Johnson lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Emilianko sprawling to the canvas. Johnson follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Emilianko hang on?
Johnson wants to stand up but Emilianko is controlling the position.

Tomaz Emilianko has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Emilianko not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Johnson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Emilianko is working an open guard so Johnson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Quinn Johnson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Johnson looks to land a combination. Emilianko sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Emilianko throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

And that's the end of the fight!
Quinn Johnson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
