Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Carlton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenichi Shirahama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shirahama has chosen Fade To Black as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenichi Shirahama!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shirahama blocks a jab.
Shirahama throws out a counter right but Carlton avoids it with no problem.
Carlton lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Shirahama doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Shirahama takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Carlton manages to get back to half guard.

My spies in Ryōzanpaku Dojo inform me that Shirahama has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Shirahama is working for a rear naked choke. Carlton is not defending it well and Shirahama has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Carlton refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Carlton's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 5, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kenichi Shirahama!
