Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Emilaniko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and T Rex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). T Rex has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fedor Emilaniko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, T Rex!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emilaniko scores with a nice body kick.

Rex shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Emilaniko's guard.
Rex won't allow Emilaniko to get back to his feet.

Emilaniko controls Rex momentarily but Rex frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rex thows a big elbow that misses.
Emilaniko wants to stand up but Rex is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Rex feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rex drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Emilaniko manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rex has Emilaniko in his guard.

Rex has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Emilaniko is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Rex.

Emilaniko wants to control but Rex is keeping him busy.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rex can do anything to dispel that myth.

Emilaniko wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rex keeps working.

Rex throws his legs up looking for a submission but Emilaniko uses it to pass to side control.
Rex is trying to improve his position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rex is not content to let Emilaniko control the position.
Rex is looking to reverse the position.

Emilaniko has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Emilaniko tries to clinch but Rex is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Emilaniko fails with an attempt to clinch.
Emilaniko moves in looking to clinch but Rex pushes him off.

Emilaniko clinches.
Emilaniko unloads a knee to the mid-section. Rex lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Rex tightens his grip and picks Emilaniko up, before dumping him to the ground. Emilaniko manages to land in guard.
Emilaniko wants to get back to his feet but Rex is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Rex postures up.
Rex throws and elbow that misses. Emilaniko uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rex's guard. Nice move by Emilaniko!

Emilaniko stands up from guard. Let's bang!

and Rex counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Emilaniko!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Emilaniko is trying desperately to improve position.
Rex breaks from Emilaniko's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Rex has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Emilaniko is bucking up trying to escape but Rex cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rex unloads with some shots from mount but Emilaniko bucks and avoids them well.

Emilaniko wants to control but Rex is having none of it.

Emilaniko sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Emilaniko misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Emilaniko is trying to stand up here but Rex is controlling him well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rex working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Emilaniko on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Rex is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Emilaniko is just riding it out for now. Rex eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rex thows a huge punch but Emilaniko dodges it nicely.
Rex throws a strike but Emilaniko avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Rex is looking to work some ground and pound but Emilaniko has wrist control.

Rex is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Emilaniko is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Emilaniko has escaped and now he's on top!
Rex tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

T Rex showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Emilaniko shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Rex lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Emilaniko!

Emilaniko slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Emilaniko is trying to maintain the position but Rex is very close to passing his half guard.

Emilaniko holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Emilaniko wants to get back to full guard but Rex has mounted him!

Rex cracks Emilaniko with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Rex breaks from Emilaniko's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Emilaniko could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Rex jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Emilaniko manages to avoid the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rex throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Rex landing a few strikes.
Emilaniko is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Rex asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Rex wants to control but Emilaniko is keeping him busy.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rex prevents Emilaniko from escaping the position.
Emilaniko takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Rex landing a few strikes.

Rex thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Rex lands an elbow.

And that's the end of the fight!
T Rex comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rex has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
