Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Escobar De Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johny Slicer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slicer has chosen Morbid Angel - Rapture as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

I was talking to De Vega's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Slicer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. De Vega swivels though and keeps the full guard.

De Vega escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Slicer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
De Vega controls Slicer momentarily but Slicer frees himself.
De Vega is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Slicer is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Slicer is looking to stand up but De Vega won't let him.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Slicer slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That was a close round but I would say that Escobar De Vega will probably get the nod.

Some bone on bone action there as De Vega checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

That kick from Slicer tenderised De Vega's leg. De Vega is trying to keep his angry face on.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting De Vega here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Escobar De Vega.
