PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roman Peltier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Carver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Roman Peltier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mike Carver!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peltier looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Peltier fails with a takedown attempt.
Carver keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roman Peltier. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Peltier shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carver but Carver pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Carver goes for a double leg but Peltier avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Peltier continues to drive forward.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carver pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Peltier lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Peltier is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Carver is looking to escape.
Carver is not content to let Peltier control the position.
Peltier is really struggling to control Carver but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Peltier is just content to waste time from the top position. Carver takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Peltier wants to control from the top but Carver keeps moving.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Carver wants to get back to his feet but Peltier is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Peltier fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Carver to the ground. Peltier is now in Carver's guard.
Carver preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Peltier is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Peltier has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Peltier working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Carver's head.

Peltier wants to control from the top but Carver keeps moving.
Carver wants to stand up but Peltier is controlling him.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Horrible takedown attempt by Carver or perhaps it was just good defense by Peltier, which made it look bad.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Carver tries to clinch but Peltier is having none of it.
Peltier shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carver but Carver pushes him off and we're back to square one.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Peltier.
Peltier throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carver's waist but Carver gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Peltier off to one side.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Carver shoots for a double leg takedown but Peltier sprawls well. He's pushed Carver's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Carver lands a high kick!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carver shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Peltier but Peltier pushes him off and we're back to square one.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Peltier is defended easily by Carver.

The fight stays on the outside here - Carver looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Peltier throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Carver dives in and grabs Peltier's left leg, looking for a takedown. Peltier pushes down on Carver's head and hops out.
Peltier tries to close the distance and clinch but Carver swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Peltier shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Carver pinned against the cage. Carver gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Peltier gets the takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Peltier wants to stand but Carver is controlling his arm.
Peltier tries to advance to mount but Carver denies him.
Carver is being controlled here.
Carver is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Peltier wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carver keeps working.

Carver is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Peltier has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Roman Peltier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Peltier closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Carver quickly recovers to half guard.
Peltier tries to pass to full mount but Carver defends it.
Peltier is working hard here to advance position.

Carver is trying to stand back up but Peltier is controlling him
Carver is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Peltier seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Peltier is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Carver can do to turn this around?

Carver keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!

Carver is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Peltier presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Carver lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Carver's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Peltier fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Carver is out of range.
Roman Peltier is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Carver slips a jab and a cross from Peltier.

Peltier looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Carver is fending him off so far but Peltier persists. Nope, Carver circles away and we're back to standing.

Peltier goes for a double leg but Carver avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Carver continues to drive forward.

Peltier looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Carver lands an elbow inside.
Carver gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Roman Peltier is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Peltier closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Carver's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Carver is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Peltier is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mike Carver comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Peltier has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
