Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Renan Melo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conor McCracken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McCracken is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Rebels Song - Come out and Fight. This should be a great matchup!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Conor McCracken!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCracken swings widly with a right hand
and Melo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Melo gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Melo misses with a shot to the kidneys.
A right hook to the body lands for Melo.
McCracken prevents a body shot from Melo.
McCracken tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Melo smiles and moves away.
Melo connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Melo avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
McCracken throws a left and a right that both miss

so Melo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Melo wants to control from the top but McCracken keeps moving.

McCracken is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Melo is aware though and is defending well.

Melo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but McCracken sees it coming and defends easily.
McCracken has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Melo is working away from the top position though.
McCracken is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Melo wants to free his trapped foot but McCracken is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

McCracken throws a nice looking combination but Melo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Melo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McCracken manages to avoid it.
McCracken tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Melo swivels and escapes.

Melo lunges at McCracken with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by McCracken's hand.

Melo throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McCracken sees it coming and avoids it easily.

McCracken takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

We've been told by Melo's head coaches at Unicorn Powered Fighting that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
McCracken walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

and Melo counters with a straight right hand.
Melo looks to land a right hand but McCracken moved out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Melo makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

and Melo counters with a three punch combo that has McCracken backing up. McCracken nods at Melo to acknowledge the strikes.
Conor McCracken is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McCracken tries to bum rush Melo with a series of wild strikes but Melo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Melo misses with a straight right.
Melo lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Melo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McCracken can do to turn this around?
Melo throws the left hand but McCracken avoids the punch easily.
Melo scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Melo here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
McCracken fails to land the takedown.

McCracken felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
