PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bary Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Wuzz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Bary Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, David Wuzz!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wuzz dives in and grabs Allen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Allen pushes down on Wuzz's head and hops out.
Wuzz misses with a body kick.
Wuzz closes the distance looking to clinch
and Allen counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Wuzz shoots in looking for a takedown. Allen tries to sprawl out of it but Wuzz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Allen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wuzz has his takedown stuffed
and Allen counters with a straight right hand.
Bary Allen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Wuzz.
Wuzz darts in looking for a takedown but Allen gets double underhooks and turns Wuzz into the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wuzz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Allen pinned against the cage. Allen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Allen lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Wuzz has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Wuzz and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
We've been told by Allen's head coaches at Instincts that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Wuzz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Allen to counter with a crisp jab.

and Allen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Allen tries a head kick but it misses.
Allen throws a wild body kick that Wuzz sees coming a mile off.
Allen dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Allen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Wuzz, pushing him back against the cage.
Allen is struggling to control the position.
Allen lands a shot to the body.
Allen just leaning against Wuzz, taking a breather.
Wuzz takes a shot to the head.
Wuzz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Allen pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Wuzz jumps guard and drags Allen to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Allen trying to control but Wuzz is working from the bottom.
Allen has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Allen postures up and lands a big shot to Wuzz's brow.

Wuzz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Allen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Allen passes into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wuzz is trying to get back to full guard.
Wuzz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Allen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Allen's back!

Wuzz looking for the choke but no joy.
You can see the frustration on Allen's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Wuzz looking to break Allen's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Allen remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Wuzz will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Allen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wuzz on the ground.
Wuzz doesn't have the hooks in and Allen manages to turn into his guard.

Wuzz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Allen defends well.

Wuzz is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Wuzz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Allen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Allen stands up over Wuzz, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Allen works over Wuzz with some ground and pound from guard.

Wuzz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Allen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Allen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Allen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wuzz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Allen has managed to get both his arms back between Wuzz's legs - danger averted.

Wuzz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Allen is aware though and is defending well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bary Allen dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Allen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Wuzz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Allen tries to avoid it but Wuzz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Allen to the ground. Allen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Wuzz takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Allen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wuzz can do to turn this around?
Wuzz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Allen's waist but Allen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wuzz off to one side.
Wuzz looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Allen cracks Wuzz with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Wuzz tries to grapple but his opponent circles
enabling Allen to counter with a crisp jab.
Good exchange - Allen coming out on top.
Wuzz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Allen paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Wuzz on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Allen. Allen obviously looking to wear him down.
Wuzz moves out of range of the strikes.

Wuzz shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Allen keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Allen trying to hold on to Wuzz's head to control him but Wuzz postures up.
Wuzz wants to pass the guard but Allen is defending well.

Wuzz seems to be working for a kimura but Allen defends the submission attempt.
Allen on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Allen tries to get out of the position.

Allen regains full guard. Nicely done.
Allen is adopting a defensive guard.
Wuzz advances to half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Wuzz is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Allen sees it coming and defends easily.

Wuzz is trying to work for a kimura but Allen is defending well.
Wuzz prevents Allen from improving his position.

Wuzz maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Allen could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Wuzz has cracked it and Allen is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Wuzz!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). David Wuzz!
David Wuzz really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Urban Fighter logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
