PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daisuke Takemura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rony Moraes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daisuke Takemura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rony Moraes!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moraes rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Takemura moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Takemura uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Moraes.
Moraes takes a swing at Takemura's ribcage but misses.
Moraes swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
We've been hearing reports that Takemura has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Takemura uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Moraes.

Moraes changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Takemura looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Takemura tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Takemura is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Takemura striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Moraes is looking to take a break and control but Takemura is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Takemura manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Moraes is looking for a sweep. Takemura is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Moraes looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Takemura drops an elbow to the side of Moraes's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Takemura looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Moraes with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Moraes is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Takemura's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Takemura's back!

Moraes is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Takemura tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Moraes is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Takemura is just riding it out for now. Moraes eventually gives up the hold.
Moraes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Takemura does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Takemura wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Takemura manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Moraes tries to free his leg and advance position but Takemura is retaining full guard.
Moraes won't allow Takemura to sweep him here.

Takemura manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Moraes manages to get himself to full guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Takemura with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Moraes looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Takemura is defending well. Moraes quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Takemura has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Moraes celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rony Moraes!
Rony Moraes gave a mention to Bad Man Clothing (Nothing Over $40) in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
In defeat, Daisuke Takemura stepped up to the mic, saying 'Team Goroshi - Kore Fight Nutrition - Euolocao'.
