Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carlo Froch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rupert Psmith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Carlo Froch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rupert Psmith!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Froch stuns Psmith with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Froch drops his hands momentarily and Psmith takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Psmith misses with a body shot.
Froch swings for the body but Psmith moves out of range.
Psmith slips a jab from Froch.
Psmith explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Froch shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Froch has gone for a leg lock! Psmith slips out almost immediately though and dives into Froch's guard.

Froch tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Psmith slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Froch is adopting a defensive guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Froch had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Psmith defends it easily.
Froch controls Psmith momentarily but Psmith frees himself.
Froch is pulling down on Psmith's head. It's preventing any offense from Psmith, at least for the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Froch is trying to keep Psmith in close.
Froch manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Psmith manages to get himself to full guard.

Psmith wants to sweep but no luck.
Froch trying to control but Psmith is working from the bottom.
Froch with a flurry of punches that miss.
Froch wants to pass the guard but Psmith is keeping the position.

Psmith pulls Froch in close to prevent any damage.
We've been hearing that Froch has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Psmith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Froch postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Froch ducks under a wild hook from Psmith.
Froch drops down looking for a counter takedown but Psmith sprawls and moves away.
Psmith's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Froch connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Psmith scrambles back to his feet.
Psmith lands a right hook to the body.

Froch throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Psmith was covering up waiting for the punch and Froch finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Froch keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Psmith's head.

Psmith keeping moving, preventing Froch from controlling successfully.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Froch accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Psmith looking for a sweep. Not yet Psmith, not yet.
Psmith working a defensive guard here.
Froch is looking to pass into half guard but Psmith pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Psmith is in guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Psmith postures up.
Froch is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Froch's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Psmith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Froch.
Psmith showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Froch.

Psmith tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Froch was well out of range. Poor timing from Psmith.
Carlo Froch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rupert Psmith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Froch avoids the body shot from Psmith.
A nice inside leg kick there by Psmith. That's going to slow Froch down.
Psmith feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Frochs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Froch drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Froch wants to control but Psmith is keeping him busy.
Psmith dodges the ground and pound from Froch.

Psmith can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Froch throws a strike aimed at the side of Psmith's head but Psmith avoids it well.
Froch in side control, throwing shots but Psmith defends.
Psmith is looking to regain half guard here but Froch keeps moving and retains side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Froch is looking to take a break and control but Psmith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Psmith is not content to let Froch control the position.
Psmith tries to buck Froch off but Froch is having none of it.
Psmith parries the strikes from Froch easily there. Froch is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Psmith to escape.
Psmith manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Well, if Psmith is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Froch is trying to keep Psmith in close.
Psmith looking to pass the guard.

Froch walks into a left hand.
Psmith is looking to chop away at Froch's legs.
Psmith lands with a thumping leg kick.
Psmith smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Froch dives in for a single leg takedown but Psmith sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Froch throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Psmith on the side of the head.
Psmith throws a nice outside leg kick.
Froch misses with a two punch combination.
Froch fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Froch decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Psmith is refusing to be controlled, as Froch sits in half guard.
Psmith trying to control but Froch postures up.
Psmith wants to improve his position but Froch is controlling well.

Psmith is controlling Froch's trapped leg to prevent Froch from advancing to side control.
Froch seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Psmith does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Psmith avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Froch.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Froch lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Psmith has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Froch thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Psmith's head.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Froch is looking to work some ground and pound but Psmith has wrist control.
Carlo Froch overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Psmith wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Psmith avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Psmith connects with a leg kick. Froch looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Froch uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Psmith.

Psmith doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Froch has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Psmith.
A combination from Froch does no damage.

I would just about give that final round to Rupert Psmith.
I think Psmith has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
