The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good exchange - Gold coming out on top.
Gold lands with a nice combination. Steamboat backs away looking to recover.
Gold throws a lazy uppercut
and Steamboat counters with a nice kick to the body.
Gold's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Steamboat connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gold scrambles back to his feet.

Gold stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

I was talking to Gold's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Steamboat! Gold is out on his feet! Steamboat rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Gold is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Gold is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
