The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luatua cracks a nice hook into Bear's ribs.

Bear shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Luatua is trying to defend but Bear finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Luatua has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bear is working away from the top position though.
Bear thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Luatua has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Luatua is trying to stand up here but Bear is controlling him well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bear is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Bear missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Luatua avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bear.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bear slips a nice elbow through Luatua's hands, connecting with Luatua's forehead.

Luatua on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Luatua tries to get out of the position.
Bear works his way into full mount!
Bear lands a big shot there that rocks Luatua but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
A nice elbow there by Bear.
Bear thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

The referee warns Luatua that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Bear has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bear is landing with some decent strikes but Luatua is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bear sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Bear unloads with some shots from mount but Luatua bucks and avoids them well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bear breaks from Luatua's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Bear thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Oooh a big shot lands for Bear! Luatua is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!
