PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marco Chavarria (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ameer Clark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Chavarria might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to tom sawyer. The key to victory for Marco Chavarria has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 8 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marco Chavarria!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ameer Clark!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chavarria circles away from the clinch attempt.

Clark drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Clark won't allow Chavarria to get back to his feet.
Clark trying to control the position from guard on top but Chavarria is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Chavarria manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Clark scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Clark throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Clark has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Clark tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Chavarria.

Clark is trying to work for a kimura but Chavarria is defending well.
Chavarria wants to get back to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Clark is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Clark goes for an armbar but Chavarria turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Chavarria.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Clark seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chavarria wants to stand but Clark is controlling his posture from full guard.
Clark is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Clark is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Clark looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Clark pulls Chavarria in close to prevent any damage.

Chavarria is looking to stand up but Clark won't let him.

Chavarria looks to land a right hand but Clark moved out of range.
Clark fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Chavarria avoids it really well and circles away.
Chavarria misses with a wild combination.
Sloppy strikes from Chavarria. Those never looked like landing.
Chavarria rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Clark moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Clark goes for a double leg but Chavarria avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Chavarria continues to drive forward.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clark on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Chavarria escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chavarria tries to clinch up.

Chavarria shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Chavarria was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Clark manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Clark is pressing down on Chavarria's thigh, looking to free his foot. Chavarria is holding on for now.
Clark controlling the pace.
Chavarria tries to kick Clark off but Clark keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Clark is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Clark in particular looking to stall.
Chavarria knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Clark on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Chavarria tries to kick Clark off but Clark keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Chavarria is trying to stand up here but Clark is controlling him well.
Still in half guard, Clark seems content to control.

Clark looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Chavarria with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Chavarria looks like he's trying to stand up.
Chavarria is looking to get back to is feet but Clark passes into side control.
Ameer Clark has got the better of the ground game so far.
Clark passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Chavarria!
Chavarria wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Clark lands a big elbow.
You get the feeling that Chavarria really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Chavarria looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Clark lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Clark with a couple of short strikes.
Chavarria is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Clark looking to control but Chavarria is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Clark has control of Chavarria's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Chavarria regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ameer Clark showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Clark fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Chavarria, pushing him back against the cage.
Chavarria with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Clark jumps guard but Chavarria stands there with Clark around his waist. Clark gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Clark has had enough of the clinch but Chavarria keeps him there for the moment.

Clark is working for takedown but Chavarria is calmly controlling the position for now.
Marco Chavarria has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ameer Clark.
Chavarria is trying to push Clark away but Clark has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Chavarria tries to work over Clark's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

A frustrated look appears on Chavarria's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Clark has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Chavarria blocks a jab.
Chavarria misses with a two punch combination.
Clark tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chavarria swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Chavarria will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Clark fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Chavarria throws a left and a right that both miss
and Clark counters with a left to the body.
Clark's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Chavarria connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Clark scrambles back to his feet.

Chavarria swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Clark counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Clark.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Clark throws an elbow that misses. Chavarria uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Clark's guard. Nice move by Chavarria!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Clark holds on and takes a little breather.
Clark trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Clark bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Chavarria's guard.

Clark wants to control from the top but Chavarria keeps moving.

Clark stays in close to Chavarria's body and controls the position.
Clark passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Clark tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Clark tries to move to mount but Chavarria blocks the move with his legs.

Ameer Clark comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Clark winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
