Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Leopoldo Hewitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Brighton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leopoldo Hewitt has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Leopoldo Hewitt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Brighton!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brighton looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hewitt!

Hewitt throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Brighton has taken the fight to the clinch.
Hewitt jumps guard but Brighton stands there with Hewitt around his waist. Hewitt gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Brighton is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Hewitt tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Brighton smiles and moves away.

Hewitt rushes Brighton and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hewitt is trying to force a seperation but Brighton has the dominant position.

Hewitt slows down the pace here.

Brighton gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Brighton wants to control from the top but Hewitt keeps moving.

Hewitt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brighton gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Brighton must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hewitt preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hewitt seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Brighton wanted to stand there but Hewitt had control of the position.
Hewitt wants to get back to his feet but Brighton is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Hewitt is adopting a defensive guard.

Hewitt looking for a guillotine here but Brighton defends easily.
Brighton has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hewitt is proving hard to escape from.

Hewitt has Brighton pulled in close to control his posture.
Brighton trying to control the position from guard on top but Hewitt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hewitt has control of Brighton's left arm, preventing Brighton from doing any damage.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Hewitt really is a fat lump.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Brighton gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Brighton lands a takedown into guard.
Hewitt has his hands on Brighton's head, controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hewitt working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brighton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brighton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hewitt might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hewitt uses the cage to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Brighton dominated that round.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Brighton.
Brighton has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hewitt tries to improve position but can't.
Hewitt wants to get back to his feet but Brighton drags him back down.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
Mark Brighton has got the better of the ground game so far.
Brighton trying to control the action but Hewitt is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hewitt prevents Brighton from moving into mount.

Hewitt struggling a bit here.
Hewitt is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Brighton tries to stand but can't do so whilst Hewitt controls his leg.

Hewitt kicks off Brighton and gets to his feet.

Brighton moves into the clinch.

Brighton pulls guard effortlessly.
Hewitt landing some decent shots from guard.
Brighton is looking to stand up but Hewitt isn't so interested in that idea.

Hewitt is looking to stand up but Brighton won't let him.
Brighton is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Brighton throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Hewitt throws a big right hand that misses.
Hewitt scoring with punches to the head and body.
Hewitt makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Hewitt trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Brighton avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Brighton looking for a sweep. Not yet Brighton, not yet.
Brighton is breathing heavily.
Hewitt is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Brighton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hewitt scoring with punches to the head and body.
Hewitt lands a couple of digs.
Hewitt missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Hewitt is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Hewitt drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hewitt jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hewitt postures up in Brighton's guard and throws a big left but Brighton blocks it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A clash of legs there as Hewitt blocks the low kick.

Brighton drives through and clinches with Hewitt against the cage.

Hewitt breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Brighton closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Hewitt looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Hewitt is looking to improve his position.
Hewitt is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Hewitt is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Brighton pulls his head out easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hewitt has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Brighton is on him like a limpet, forcing Hewitt back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Leopoldo Hewitt will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Hewitt tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Hewitt closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hewitt lands in his opponent's guard.
Brighton is pulling down on Hewitt's head. It's preventing any offense from Hewitt, at least for the moment.
Hewitt postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brighton wants to stand up but Hewitt is controlling him.
Hewitt missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Hewitt working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Brighton's head.

Hewitt decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Hewitt shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Brighton napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Hewitt tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hewitt has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Hewitt tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Brighton is looking to reverse the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hewitt lands a few punches from side control.
Hewitt working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Check out the look on Hewitt's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Brighton takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Brighton is trying to escape the position but Hewitt is controlling the position.

Hewitt working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Hewitt misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Brighton is trying to buck Hewitt off.

Hewitt goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Brighton has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hewitt but great work by Brighton.
Hewitt is pushing Brighton's head away, looking to escape. Brighton manages to hold on to the position though.
Hewitt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hewitt sneaks back into half guard.
Brighton stops Hewitt from getting back to his feet.
Hewitt moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Hewitt is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Brighton is aware though and is defending well.

Brighton got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hewitt has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Brighton has managed to get both his arms back between Hewitt's legs - danger averted.

Hewitt is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Hewitt lands a nice uppercut.
Hewitt tries for a takedown. No joy.

Brighton wants the takedown. Hewitt is fighting it off but Brighton persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Hewitt's guard against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Hewitt manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Hewitt lands a right hand that snaps the head of Brighton backwards.
Brighton tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

And that's the end of the fight!
Leopoldo Hewitt showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Hewitt has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
