Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mathew Garza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Conor Mcgregor!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Jonathan Paton and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcgregor gets tackled into the cage by Garza. Garza maintains the clinch.
Mcgregor lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Garza escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Garza blocks a head kick by Mcgregor.
Mcgregor closes the distance looking to clinch
and Garza counters with a right hand to the body.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mcgregor throws a sloppy head kick and Garza moves out of range easily.

and Garza counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Mcgregor drives through and clinches with Garza against the cage.
Garza is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mcgregor pulls him back up using the underhooks.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mcgregor wants to control but Garza is keeping busy.

Garza thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mcgregor's head.

Garza is looking for a kimura but Mcgregor is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Garza to get the leverage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Garza wants to work for an arm triangle but Mcgregor is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Garza winds up and cracks Mcgregor with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Garza seems to be looking for submissions.
Garza thows a huge punch but Mcgregor dodges it nicely.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That was a close round but I would say that Mathew Garza will probably get the nod.

Garza jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mcgregor walks away with a smile on his face. Garza gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Garza gets to his feet. Mcgregor looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Conor Mcgregor seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Mcgregor is trying to force a seperation but Garza has the dominant position.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

and Garza decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mcgregor's guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Garza, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
