The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Furukawa shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Furukawa was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Bernard is not content to let Furukawa control the position.

Bernard is trying to work for a sweep but Furukawa has mounted him!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Furukawa controlling the pace for now.

Furukawa is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bernard can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Furukawa lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

It looks like Renato Bernard has been cut.
Bernard might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bernard can't escape the position.
