PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight kickboxing rules bout between Joe Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dummy Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armstrong throws a jab but it's blocked by Jones.
Jones looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Jones closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Armstrong breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jones throws a head kick that half lands.

It looks like Joe Armstrong has been cut.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Armstrong crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Jones - the referee stops the clock and Armstrong gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Jones. Armstrong manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Armstrong throws a looping overhand right but Jones ducks down to avoid it.
Armstrong missing with a left hand there. Jones was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Armstrong thows a left - swing and a miss!
Armstrong blocks a jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Armstrong lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Jones lands a jab to Armstrong's midsection.

Jones fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Armstrong, pushing him back against the cage.

Armstrong looks to land a right hand but Jones moved out of range.

A swing and a miss from Armstrong.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Jones.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jones misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Armstrong.

Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jones uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Armstrong.

and Armstrong counters with a huge right that knocks Jones out cold! Armstrong is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!
