PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Vaughan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edwin Elpidio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Vaughan !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Edwin Elpidio!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vaughan dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Vaughan throws the left hand but Elpidio avoids the punch easily.
Elpidio has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Vaughan misses with a straight left.
Elpidio uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Vaughan has time to react.


It looks like Shane Vaughan has been cut.
Vaughan shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Vaughan displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Elpidio throws out the jab.
Elpidio wants to land a leg kick but Vaughan is out of range.
Vaughan throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Vaughan sizes up Elpidio with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Elpidio throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Elpidio connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Vaughan 's hands.
Vaughan does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Vaughan lands with a nice body punch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vaughan avoids the body shot from Elpidio.
Vaughan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Elpidio.
An attempted straight right counter from Vaughan misses the target.
Elpidio shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Elpidio rushes Vaughan and presses him up against the cage.
Vaughan lands a body shot.
Elpidio misses with a shot to the kidneys.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vaughan is trying to force a seperation but Elpidio has the dominant position.
Elpidio lands with a left to the head.
Elpidio with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Elpidio lands a left hand that snaps the head of Vaughan backwards.
I was talking to Vaughan 's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Vaughan lands with a short head shot on the inside.


It looks like Edwin Elpidio has been cut.

Shane Vaughan 's cut is getting worse.
Vaughan tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Elpidio lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Elpidio misses with a punch to the body.
Elpidio takes a shot to the head.
Vaughan trying to control the position but instead, Elpidio has worked for underhooks and has pushed Vaughan into the cage.
Elpidio lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Elpidio makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Vaughan breaks from the clinch.

Elpidio lands a big uppercut and Vaughan crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Vaughan looks OK. Elpidio waves Vaughan back to his feet!


Vaughan is rocked!
Elpidio lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Edwin Elpidio!
