Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Badam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamarcus Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Badam pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Badam but Badam pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Johnson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Johnson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Badam is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson uses his free foot to push down on Badam's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Badam.
Badam is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Johnson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Badam manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Badam trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Johnson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Johnson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Badam takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Badam sneaks out the side door and pushes Johnson away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Badam cracks Johnson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Johnson is wriggling around trying to escape.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Badam cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Johnson wants to hold on but Badam pushes him away.
Johnson is looking to improve his position but Badam isn't that keen on the idea.
Badam lands a big shot there that rocks Johnson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Badam postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Johnson looks a forlorn figure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jamarcus Johnson will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Johnson takes a kick to the side of the head.
Badam pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Johnson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Johnson shoots in for a double leg but Badam sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Badam getting the better of the striking in that exchange.


It looks like Jamarcus Johnson has been cut.
Johnson swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Johnson misses with a body shot.
Badam lands with a thumping leg kick.
Badam missing with a left hand there. Johnson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Badam is looking to clinch but Johnson is avoiding it.
Badam shoots in and drives through. Johnson sprawls well.
Johnson tries to bum rush Badam with a series of wild strikes but Badam uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Johnson feints and as Badam raises his hands in defense, Johnson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Johnson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Badam works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Johnson postures up in Badam's guard and throws a big left but Badam blocks it.

Jamarcus Johnson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Badam has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Johnson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Johnson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Badam pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Johnson scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Badam is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Badam changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Johnson fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Johnson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Badam's waist but Badam gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johnson off to one side.

Johnson looks to land a combination but Badam avoids it well.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Badam's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Johnson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Johnson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Badam on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Badam tries to get out of the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Johnson in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Badam tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Johnson!
