Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Shinata napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Silva creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Shinata sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Silva in side control, throwing shots but Shinata defends.
Shinata stops Silva from passing to mount.
Silva with the ground and pound but Shinata regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Silva wants to stand up but Shinata is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Silva throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Shinata tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Silva is in Shinata's guard.
Shinata is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shinata lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Silva tries to strike from the bottom.

Shinata forces his way into half guard.

Shinata is trying to work for a kimura but Silva is defending well.
Silva tries to roll over but Shinata keeps him under control.

Silva is looking to control Shinata's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Silva avoid being mounted?

Shinata has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Silva defend it? Shinata steps over the head and cranks it - Silva is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Shinata!
