Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jayden James !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Julio Cortazar!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James misses with an uppercut

and Cortazar moves into the clinch.
James is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Cortazar successfully pulls guard.
Cortazar keeping full guard, as James tries to pass.

James drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and James jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
James passes Cortazar's left leg - he's now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James content to control rather than advance.

James is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cortazar sees it coming and defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cortazar won't allow James to pass to mount.
James is trying to control. Cortazar wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

James seems to be looking for submissions.
James stalling.
James wants to stand but Cortazar has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
James tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cortazar knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
James tries to stand and escape but Cortazar is controlling the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
James throws an off balance right hand
and Cortazar counters with a big head kick but James shrugs it off.
The fighters circle momentarily. Cortazar darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
James misses with a looping right.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cortazar tries to clinch up but James circles away and keeps his distance.
Cortazar thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on James if he has to take too many more of those.
A low kick from James misses

and Cortazar counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Cortazar.
James wants to get back to striking at distance but Cortazar won't allow it.
Cortazar stalling.

Cortazar has picked James up - he's going for a ride! Cortazar dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
James is staying active underneath Cortazar, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Cortazar is looking for a kimura but James is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cortazar to get the leverage.

James looking for submissions off his back.
James is trying to stand up here but Cortazar is controlling him well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

James looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
James is pressing down on Cortazar's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Cortazar is sitting in close to James 's body. James has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Cortazar is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Cortazar is tapping! That was a very nice submission by James .

Jayden James decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
