Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dwayne Maynard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dwayne Maynard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daniel Carter!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maynard dives in and grabs Carter's left leg, looking for a takedown. Carter pushes down on Maynard's head and hops out.

Carter closes the distance and clinches.

Carter has hold of one of Maynard's legs. Maynard is fighting the takedown attempt but Carter gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Carter pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Maynard is keeping the position for now.
Maynard really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Maynard holds on and takes a little breather.

Maynard looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maynard seems keen to control Carter's posture.

Carter wants to stand and escape but instead Maynard has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Maynard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Maynard trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Maynard chips away with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maynard lands a couple of digs.
Carter wants to get back to his feet but Maynard is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Maynard has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Carter is proving hard to escape from.

Carter preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Maynard keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Carter's head.
Carter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Maynard is one step ahead there.
Maynard throwing strikes but missing.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Carter throws a hook to the side of Maynard's head but Maynard sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Carter feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Maynard wants to stand and escape but Carter is having none of it.
Carter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Maynard pulls Carter in close to prevent any damage.
Carter wants to control from the top but Maynard keeps moving.
Carter is looking to pass into half guard but Maynard pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Maynard is in guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Maynard working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Carter trying to keep a closed guard but Maynard is proving a slippery customer.
Maynard lands a couple of digs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Daniel Carter will probably get the nod.
That's time! Maynard's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Carter closes the distance and clinches.
Maynard drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A nice left hand lands by Carter.

Maynard is trying to trip Carter. He has hold of a leg but Carter is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Maynard persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Carter wants to get back to his feet but Maynard is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Carter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maynard doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maynard manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Carter won't allow Maynard to sweep him here.
Maynard has a closed guard, preventing Carter from standing up.
Maynard looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Maynard continues to stall.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Carter throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Maynard wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Carter looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Maynard!
Maynard looks to move to half guard but instead Carter has passed into mount! Damn!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carter sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Carter tries to control but Maynard wriggling away.
Maynard is wriggling around trying to escape.
Carter misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Maynard is in all sorts of trouble here.
Carter throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Maynard holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Carter tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Maynard blocking the ground and pound.
Maynard wants to control but Carter is having none of it.
Carter landing shots from mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Carter jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Maynard is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Maynard and Carter has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Carter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Carter thows a leg kick but Maynard checks it
and Carter takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Maynard is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Maynard with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Carter is looking to stand up but Maynard isn't so interested in that idea.

Maynard thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Carter tries to kick Maynard off but Maynard keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Carter wants to control but Maynard is keeping busy.
Carter is looking to get back to full guard here but Maynard has managed to pass to side control instead.
Carter is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Carter wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Carter can't do much from the bottom here.

Maynard decides to stand back up. Maynard steps back and let's Carter get back to his feet.

Maynard closes the distance and clinches.
Carter tries to break free but Maynard pushes him back against the cage.
Maynard drops down looking for an ankle pick but Carter pulls his leg out and moves away.

Carter clinches.

Carter wants the takedown. Maynard is fighting it off but Carter persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Maynard's guard against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Maynard managing to control the position.
Carter seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dwayne Maynard.
I think Carter has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
