Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yun Fat Chow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sakari Nurmi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nurmi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Turisas -Take the day!. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yun Fat Chow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sakari Nurmi!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Radbod Blank and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nurmi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Chow circles away quickly and effectively.
Chow throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Nurmi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

A shot to the liver by Nurmi. Beautiful body shot.
Chow tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nurmi paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nurmi on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.


It looks like Sakari Nurmi has been cut.
Chow misses with a few strikes there.
Nurmi is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Nurmi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Chow has closed the distance and engaged Nurmi in a clinch.
Nurmi is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Chow is defending well for now.

Nurmi has his foot on Chow's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chow works his way back into a safe position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nurmi tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Nurmi is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Chow is aware though and is defending well.
Chow is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Chow throws a push kick but Nurmi slaps the foot to one side.
Nurmi tries a head kick but it misses.
Nurmi tries to clinch up but Chow circles away and keeps his distance.
Nurmi cracks Chow with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Nurmi has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Chow regains guard immediately.

My spies in Sanitarium inform me that Nurmi has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Chow is on top in guard.

Chow wants to control from the top but Nurmi keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nurmi is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Chow tries to free his leg and advance position but Nurmi is retaining full guard.
Chow slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Nurmi closes the distance and clinches.
Chow throws a punch but it's blocked by Nurmi.
Nurmi prevents a body shot from Chow.
Chow pushes Nurmi back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Chow misses with the head strike.

Nurmi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nurmi misses with a low kick.
Nurmi pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Chow ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nurmi moves away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Nurmi has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Chow avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Chow creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Nurmi will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Chow stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nurmi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sakari Nurmi is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Chow tries to move into full mount but can't pass Nurmi's legs.

Chow wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nurmi keeps working.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nurmi blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Chow lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Nurmi is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Yun Fat Chow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sakari Nurmi.
Nurmi has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Yun Fat Chow.
I think Nurmi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
