PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Swaggert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Swaggert's entrance music is driven by demons. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Swaggert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Miller!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Bruno Lombardi and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Swaggert moves away.
Swaggert stuffs the takedown attempt from Miller. Miller gets slowly back to his feet.
Miller moves in looking to clinch but Swaggert pushes him off.
Miller throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Swaggert's waist but Swaggert gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Miller off to one side.
Miller fails to land the takedown.
Bob Swaggert has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Miller.
Miller tries to clinch up but Swaggert circles away and keeps his distance.
Miller shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Swaggert pinned against the cage. Swaggert gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A bone on bone clash there as Swaggert blocks the leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Swaggert just misses with a elbow thrown towards Miller's brow.
Miller is working for takedown but Swaggert is calmly controlling the position for now.
A short body shot lands from Miller as the two fighters clinch.

Miller pulls guard.
Miller looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Swaggert puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Miller is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Miller trying to get back to full guard but Swaggert takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Swaggert is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Miller has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Miller!

and Swaggert counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Miller's guard now.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Swaggert with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Miller goes for a takedown in the clinch but Swaggert prevents it.

Swaggert breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Miller drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Miller slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Swaggert is not content to let Miller control the position.

Miller perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Miller throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Miller is looking to take a break and control but Swaggert is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Miller wants to control from the top but Swaggert keeps moving.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Swaggert closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Swaggert using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Miller has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Swaggert gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Miller.

Miller escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Swaggert counters by moving into the clinch.
Swaggert throws a knee to the head but misses.

Swaggert gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bob Swaggert will probably get the nod.

Miller closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Miller lands in his opponent's guard.
Miller wants to control from the top but Swaggert keeps moving.
Milleris looking to pass into half guard but Swaggert pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Swaggert is in guard.

Miller is trying to hold Swaggert in close to prevent damage but Swaggert has managed to pass into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Swaggert decides to return to a standing position.

Swaggert shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Miller is looking to improve his position but Swaggert isn't that keen on the idea.
Miller is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Miller looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Bob Swaggert overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Swaggert is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Miller has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Swaggert is trying to stick to Miller's back but Miller is turning into Swaggert. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Swaggert's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Miller.

Miller drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Swaggert manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Miller has Swaggert in his guard.
Miller looking to hit a scissor sweep but Swaggert is one step ahead there.
Miller has control of Swaggert's left arm, preventing Swaggert from doing any damage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Miller is trying to hold Swaggert in close to prevent damage but Swaggert has managed to pass into half guard.
Bob Swaggert is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Miller wants to improve his position but Swaggert is controlling well.
Swaggert wants to stand up but Miller has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Frank Miller has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Swaggert has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
