PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Ramos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rusev Hungary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rusev Hungary will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jackson Ramos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rusev Hungary!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yuuki Gou and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hungary closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hungary creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Hungary stalls.
A frustrated look appears on Hungary's face as he tries to break the clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Hungary.
Ramos pressing his opponent against the cage.
Hungary prevents the takedown attempt.
Hungary has Ramos pushed against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ramos breaks the clinch.
Ramos goes for a double leg but Hungary avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hungary continues to drive forward.
Ramos shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hungary sprawls well. Hungary wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ramos gets slowly back to his feet.

Ramos dodges an elbow strike from Hungary.

Ramos shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hungary pinned against the cage. Hungary gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Hungary has taken the fight to the clinch.

Ramos's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hungary misses with a few strikes there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Ramos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hungary throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Ramos controls from within his opponent's guard.
Hungary is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ramos trying to control but Hungary is working from the bottom.
Hungary not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ramos stands and throws Hungary's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ramos working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Ramos trying to control the position but Hungary is working away.
Hungary is trying to get back to half guard.

Hungary dodges the ground and pound from Ramos.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ramos tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ramos has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rusev Hungary will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hungary shoots for a takedown but Ramos saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ramos looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Ramos has taken the fight to the clinch.
Hungary prevents the takedown attempt.

Hungary is fighting off a takedown attempt but Ramos is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hungary to the mat. Hungary regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Hungary throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Hungary really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ramos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hungary is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ramos off and has taken his back!

Ramos really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Hungary's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.

Hungary is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hungary stopping the sweep attempt from Ramos.
Jackson Ramos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ramos is pulling down on Hungary's head to control his posture.
Hungary engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Hungary throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ramos works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Hungary throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Ramos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hungary swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hungary fails with a takedown attempt.
Rusev Hungary seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ramos closes the distance and clinches up with Hungary, looking for a takedown. Ramos pushes Hungary against the cage but Hungary circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ramos lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Hungary has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Hungary and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hungary or perhaps it was just good defense by Ramos, which made it look bad.
As Hungary looks to move away, Ramos throws a big counter combo bu Hungary just gets out of the way.
Ramos shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hungary but Hungary pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jackson Ramos is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hungary closes the distance and pushes Ramos back into the cage.
Ramos drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ramos keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hungary's efforts to push away.

Ramos has picked Hungary up - he's going for a ride! Ramos dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Hungary defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Ramos.
Ramos with the ground and pound from mount.
Hungary is trying desperately to improve position.
Ramos can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hungary is looking to escape.
Hungary manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Ramos tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jackson Ramos showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ramos has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
