Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Logan Estrada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Gene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Logan Estrada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Gene!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gene throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Frank Gene seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Estrada dives in for a single leg takedown but Gene sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Estrada wants to break free but Gene has control.

Estrada's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gene circles away from the clinch attempt.

Gene rushes Estrada and presses him up against the cage.

Gene breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gene looks for a takedown but Estrada sprawls well.
Gene displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Estrada.
Gene shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Estrada but Estrada pushes him off and we're back to square one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gene feints a jab promting Estrada to slip. Gene then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Estrada slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


It looks like Logan Estrada has been cut.

Estrada closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gene did well to prevent Estrada getting side control.

Gene holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Estrada prevents Gene from improving his position.
Gene is controlling Estrada's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Estrada wants to get back to his feet.
Gene is trying to get back to full guard.
Gene trying to get back to full guard but Estrada takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Estrada working for a guillotine from mount but Gene is in no mood to give up.
Gene tries to lock up and control but Estrada gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gene is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gene working to try and regain half guard.
Gene squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Gene tries to hold on but Estrada pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gene regains half guard.
Gene is looking for a sweep. Estrada is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Gene throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Estrada manages to pass to side control.
Gene tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Estrada wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Estrada tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Gene struggling a bit here.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Estrada gets caught napping as Gene dives in and scores a takedown. Estrada manages to retain guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Gene got a little sloppy there for a moment and Estrada has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gene has managed to get both his arms back between Estrada's legs - danger averted.
Gene is stalling in the full guard.
Gene slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Frank Gene will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Logan Estrada's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Estrada tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Gene counters by clinching up.
Gene goes for a takedown attempt but Estrada pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A combination from Gene does no damage.
Frank Gene is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Gene feints and as Estrada raises his hands in defense, Gene changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gene landing with the ground and pound.

Gene stands up and waves to Estrada to follow him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck for Estrada with that takedown attempt.

Gene rushes Estrada and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Estrada wants to break the clinch but can't.

Gene lands a takedown into guard.
Estrada trying to keep a closed guard but Gene is proving a slippery customer.
Gene works over Estrada with some ground and pound from guard.
Gene wants to control from the top but Estrada keeps moving.

Estrada is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gene defends well.

Gene is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Estrada looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gene is one step ahead there.
Gene controls from within his opponent's guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Gene shoots in and gets a takedown into Estrada's guard.
Estrada trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Gene looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Estrada has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Gene is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Estrada.
Gene content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Estrada can't do much from the bottom here.
Gene is putting a hurting on Estrada here, landing some big shots from side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Estrada misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Gene staying calm.

Gene stands up.
Gene tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gene misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Estrada circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gene connects with a solid leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Gene showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Gene tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Estrada defends well and Gene ends up having to push Estrada into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Estrada can't break the clinch.
Gene is trying to pull guard but Estrada turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Estrada wants to break the clinch but can't.
Gene drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Estrada gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Logan Estrada has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Gene.
Gene keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Estrada's efforts to push away.

Gene breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gene tries for a takedown but Estrada sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horrible takedown attempt by Estrada or perhaps it was just good defense by Gene, which made it look bad.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Estrada is defended easily by Gene.
Gene has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gene goes for a double leg but Estrada avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Estrada continues to drive forward.

Gene pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
No luck for Gene with that takedown attempt.
Gene fails with the takedown

and Estrada counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Estrada.
Gene takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Estrada tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Gene manages to pull guard.

Estrada is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Estrada wants to stand but Gene has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gene is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Estrada drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Estrada jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gene wants to control the position but Estrada says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gene makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gene.
Gene tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gene trying to keep a closed guard but Estrada is proving a slippery customer.
Gene avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Estrada being controlled here momentarily.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Gene doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Estrada counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Gene!

Gene throws Estrada to one side and escapes!
Estrada stuffs the takedown attempt from Gene. Gene gets slowly back to his feet.

Gene is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Estrada's half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Estrada throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Estrada is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gene's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gene's back!
Gene can't escape the position.
Gene looking very determined here, making life difficult for Estrada.

Gene defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gene rolls, trying to escape but Estrada keeps control of the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Logan Estrada showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Gene has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
