PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Billy Tinkl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buff Crow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buff Crow will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Billy Tinkl!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Buff Crow!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Peter Branson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crow cracks Tinkl with an open hand slap.
Crow slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Tinkl on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Crow's coach down at The GYM (19 elite coaches on the Island !!!) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Crow's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Tinkl drives through and clinches with Crow against the cage.

Tinkl has clasped his hands together around Crow's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Tinkl is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Crow is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tinkl wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Crow, who protects the arm well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tinkl fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Tinkl has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Tinkl decides to stand up, so the ref orders Crow to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Crow throws a sloppy head kick and Tinkl moves out of range easily.
Tinkl takes one to the chin there.

Tinkl moves into range and clinches up with Crow.

Tinkl's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Crow throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Tinkl takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Tinkl shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tinkl showed some decent athleticism there.
Crow really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tinkl. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Crow is staying active underneath Tinkl, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Tinkl is controlling the pace.
Tinkl seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Crow for as long as he can get away with.

Crow wants to control but Tinkl is keeping busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Tinkl drives through with a takedown into Crow's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Tinkl is stalling in the full guard.
Tinkl wants to pass the guard but Crow is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Tinkl shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Tinkl stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Crow to get to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Tinkl has closed the distance and engaged Crow in a clinch.

Tinkl gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Tinkl has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Crow tries to hold on but Tinkl postures up.
Tinkl takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Poor strikes thrown by Tinkl there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Tinkl goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Crow turns into him and now he's in Tinkl's guard.
Tinkl is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Crow can do to turn this around?
Tinkl is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Crow must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Tinkl lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Tinkl is working to tighten his grip on Crow's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Crow has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Tinkl is really squeezing tight and eventually Crow passes out! Tinkl breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
