Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robin Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ethan Hyde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robin Reyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ethan Hyde!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Alexandre Firmino and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hyde darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Reyes tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Reyes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Reyes is looking to escape.
Reyes is positioning himself well to prevent Hyde advancing to mount.
Hyde trying to control from half guard but Reyes is working away.
Reyes is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hyde scores with a couple of nice shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are battling for position here. Reyes manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Reyes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Hyde changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Reyes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hyde is looking to advance position but Reyes won't allow it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Reyes looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Hyde pulls guard effortlessly.
Hyde is trying to control the position but Reyes postures up.
Hyde preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Reyes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hyde works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Reyes is looking to stand up but Hyde won't let him.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


No joy there for Reyes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Hyde feints and as Reyes raises his hands in defense, Hyde changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Reyes keeping full guard, as Hyde tries to pass.

Hyde drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Reyes dives on top into guard.

Reyes lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Hyde escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Reyes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Reyes stands up and waves to Hyde to follow him.
Hyde is breathing heavily.
Reyes shoots in looking for a takedown but Hyde manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Reyes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Reyes is pulling down on Hyde's head to control his posture.

Hyde won't allow Reyes to sweep him here.

Hyde is looking to work some ground and pound but Reyes has wrist control.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Hyde. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Reyes wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Reyes gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Reyes lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.
Reyes has control of Hyde's left arm, preventing Hyde from doing any damage.
Hyde wants to control from the top but Reyes keeps moving.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Reyes is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Reyes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hyde looking to sit in guard and control but Reyes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Reyes throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Hyde wants to control but Reyes passes easily into half guard.

A close second round but Ethan Hyde will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Reyes gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hyde to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hyde must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Reyes stands and steps away. Hyde gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Reyes makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Reyes.
Reyes wants to stand up but Hyde is controlling him.

Hyde is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Reyes is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Reyes has escaped and now he's on top!

Hyde has a closed guard, preventing Reyes from standing up.

Reyes postures up and lands a big shot to Hyde's brow.

Reyes stands up from guard. Let's bang!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Reyes.

Hyde changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Reyes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hyde goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Reyes has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hyde but great work by Reyes.
Ethan Hyde is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hyde is trying to control Reyes's posture but Reyes avoids it.
Hyde looking for a sweep but Reyes has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Robin Reyes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Robin Reyes.
Well Hyde has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
