Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mary Dunlap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michael Black has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Mary Dunlap!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Black!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Ron Honeybunn and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Black enables Dunlap to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Black manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Black controls Dunlap momentarily but Dunlap frees himself.
Dunlap has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Black working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dunlap doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dunlap manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Black looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Dunlap passes into side control.
Black tries to get back to half guard but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Black is trying to control Dunlap's posture but Dunlap avoids it.
Black tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dunlap wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Dunlap knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Black on the ground.

Dunlap tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Black sneaks back into half guard.
Black slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Black trying to keep a closed guard but Dunlap is proving a slippery customer.
Black is trying to hold Dunlap in close to prevent damage but Dunlap has managed to pass into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Black is trying to get back to full guard.

Black works his way to full guard. Good work.

Black is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Black looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Dunlap passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dunlap content to control rather than advance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dunlap has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Black wants to get back to his feet.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Black missing with punches from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Dunlap is looking to clinch but Black is avoiding it.
Dunlap throws a wild body kick that Black sees coming a mile off.
Black changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dunlap tries to avoid it but Black manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dunlap to the ground. Dunlap escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dunlap throws a low kick but Black avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Black misses with a takedown attempt
and Dunlap counters with a nice leg kick.

Dunlap gets a takedown into half guard.
Dunlap prevents Black from improving his position.
Black throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Dunlap controlling the action here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Black wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mary Dunlap dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Dunlap closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Dunlap's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Dunlap.
Black is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dunlap not doing much here.
Black trying to control from the bottom.

Black tries to roll over but Dunlap keeps him under control.
Dunlap performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Black wants to improve his position but Dunlap is controlling well.

Black is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dunlap pulls his head out easily.
Black is pressing down on Dunlap's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Black is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Black looking for subs off his back but Dunlap has passed one foot through into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dunlap working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Dunlap stalling.

Black looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Black is pressing down on Dunlap's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Black is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Dunlap frees his head nicely. Oh but Black has switched to an armbar! Dunlap is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
