Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joesph Wyatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rion Corvus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rion Corvus will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joesph Wyatt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rion Corvus!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wyatt closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Corvus did well to prevent Wyatt getting side control.

Wyatt is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Corvus has managed to free his arm - good work.
Corvus wants to control but Wyatt is keeping busy.
Wyatt will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Wyatt is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Corvus looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Wyatt thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wyatt takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Corvus is refusing to be controlled, as Wyatt sits in half guard.
Wyatt controlling the action here.

Corvus is not content to let Wyatt control the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Corvus throws an overhand right that lands on Wyatt's shoulder, as Wyatt tries to avoid the shot.
Wyatt takes a jab right on the kisser.

Wyatt closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Corvus did well to prevent Wyatt getting side control.

Wyatt decides to stand and escape the position.
Corvus throws a left and a right that both miss

and Wyatt counters with a single leg into guard. Corvus didn't expect that.
Corvus is adopting a defensive guard.
Corvus not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Corvus is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Corvus is still trying to improve position.
Wyatt seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Wyatt is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Corvus is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Corvus has escaped and now he's on top!

Corvus sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Wyatt's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Corvus seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wyatt does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Wyatt preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Wyatt is looking for a sweep. Corvus is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Corvus passes the guard and advances to mount!
Wyatt is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joesph Wyatt dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Corvus looking to score a takedown here. Wyatt is defending well but Corvus drives through and ends up in Wyatt's guard.
Joesph Wyatt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Corvus trying to control the position from guard on top but Wyatt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wyatt looking to hit a scissor sweep but Corvus is one step ahead there.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Corvus missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Corvus wants to control from the top but Wyatt keeps moving.
Corvus might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Wyatt haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Wyatt looking to hit a scissor sweep but Corvus is one step ahead there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Corvus tries to land a leg kick but Wyatt saw it coming and moves away.
Sloppy strikes from Corvus. Those never looked like landing.
Wyatt shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Corvus sprawls well. Corvus wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wyatt gets slowly back to his feet.
Corvus lands a jab to the nose.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Corvus thuds a left hand into Wyatt's body.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Wyatt.
Corvus misses with the combination.

Corvus has closed the distance and engaged Wyatt in a clinch.
Wyatt tries to pull guard but Corvus forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Corvus is trying to break free.

Wyatt gets control of Corvus's arms and successfully pulls guard. Wyatt will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Wyatt seems keen to control Corvus's posture.
Corvus looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Wyatt preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Corvus controlling from the top position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wyatt pulls Corvus in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Wyatt keeping moving, preventing Corvus from controlling successfully.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Corvus rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wyatt moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Corvus fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rion Corvus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Corvus tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wyatt was well out of range. Poor timing from Corvus.
Wyatt looks for a takedown but Corvus sprawls well.
Wyatt keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Corvus misses with a combination
and Wyatt counters with a solid body kick.
Corvus pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Corvus scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Wyatt slips a straight right by Corvus.

A jab-cross combination lands for Corvus and sends Wyatt crashing to the mat! Corvus follows him down to the mat - Wyatt regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Wyatt is rocked!


It looks like Joesph Wyatt has been cut.
Corvus has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wyatt trying to hold on to Corvus's head to control him but Corvus postures up.
Oh Wyatt is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Corvus drops an elbow to the side of Wyatt's head.
Corvus not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Corvus stalling.
Corvus throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Corvus seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Corvus's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Corvus decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Wyatt seems to have got his legs back now.
Corvus shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wyatt sprawls well. Wyatt wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Corvus gets slowly back to his feet.
Corvus takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A telegraphed right hand from Corvus misses the target.

Corvus moves into the clinch successfully.
Corvus stalls.
Corvus fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Corvus gets underhooks to prevent Wyatt's takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wyatt misses with a knee to the head.
Wyatt tries to pull guard but Corvus holds him up against the cage and eventually Wyatt drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joesph Wyatt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wyatt blocking some punches.
Wyatt is trying to drag Corvus to the mat but Corvus just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Corvus manages to break the clinch.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Corvus fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Corvus scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Corvus gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Corvus swings wildly with an uppercut but Wyatt uses good head movement to avoid it.
Corvus tries to break the clinch but Wyatt is controlling the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Corvus can't break the clinch.
Wyatt tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rion Corvus comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Corvus has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
