Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Channing Mackenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Carvalho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Channing Mackenzie could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Gabriel Carvalho's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Channing Mackenzie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel Carvalho!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mackenzie takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Mackenzie drives through and clinches with Carvalho against the cage.
Carvalho misses with the head strike.
Mackenzie blocks an uppercut.
Carvalho throws a head punch that misses.
Mackenzie trying to land knees to the body.

Mackenzie works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Carvalho is trying to keep Mackenzie in close.
Carvalho wants to get back to his feet but Mackenzie is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Carvalho can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mackenzie controls the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mackenzie throwing strikes but missing.
Carvalho is trying to hold Mackenzie in close to prevent damage but Mackenzie has managed to pass into half guard.

Mackenzie tries to stand and escape but Carvalho is controlling the position.
Mackenzie prevents Carvalho from improving his position.

Mackenzie is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Mackenzie looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carvalho tries to kick Mackenzie off but Mackenzie keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Carvalho jabs Mackenzie to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Mackenzie closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Carvalho's guard.
Mackenzie is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Carvalho wants to stand but Mackenzie is controlling the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mackenzie sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Carvalho's guard.
Mackenzie thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Carvalho's head.
Carvalho wants to control but Mackenzie is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Mackenzie content to control rather than advance.
Carvalho wants to improve his position but Mackenzie is controlling well.
Mackenzie content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mackenzie looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carvalho with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Carvalho wants to control but Mackenzie is keeping busy.
Mackenzie takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Mackenzie wants to work for an arm triangle but Carvalho is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Mackenzie content to control rather than advance.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mackenzie works his way into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mackenzie misses with a body kick.
Carvalho takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
As Mackenzie backs off Carvalho throws a huge counter combo but Mackenzie manages to avoid it all.
Carvalho throws a quick inside leg kick.
Carvalho connects with a high kick.
Carvalho connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Mackenzie defending well as Carvalho loads up on a big left hand.
Carvalho thumps Mackenzie with a low kick.
Mackenzie tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A little jabbing left from Carvalho on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mackenzie moves away from the strike by Carvalho.
Mackenzie looks to clinch
and Carvalho cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Mackenzie closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Carvalho did well to prevent Mackenzie getting side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mackenzie is trying to work for a kimura but Carvalho is defending well.

Mackenzie is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Carvalho is looking to escape.
Carvalho is looking for a sweep. Mackenzie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mackenzie winds up and cracks Carvalho with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mackenzie lands a nice short elbow.

Mackenzie stands up and beckons Carvalho to join him on the feet.

Mackenzie fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Carvalho to the ground. Mackenzie is now in Carvalho's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carvalho is on top in guard.

Mackenzie keeping moving, preventing Carvalho from controlling successfully.
Mackenzie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Carvalho manages to get himself to full guard.

Mackenzie pushes down on Carvalho's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Mackenzie wants to free his trapped foot but Carvalho is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Mackenzie seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mackenzie looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Carvalho tries to roll over but Mackenzie keeps him under control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Channing Mackenzie dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Mackenzie is trying hard to land a takedown here. Carvalho sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Mackenzie ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Mackenzie shoots in looking for a takedown. Carvalho tries to sprawl out of it but Mackenzie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carvalho manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Carvalho bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Mackenzie's head backwards.
Mackenzie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Carvalho is fending him off so far but Mackenzie persists. Nope, Carvalho circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Channing Mackenzie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carvalho throws a jab when Mackenzie was well out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carvalho gets caught flat footed, as Mackenzie shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Carvalho can't keep his opponent in guard - Mackenzie advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Mackenzie is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Carvalho defends it well.

Carvalho tries to roll over but Mackenzie keeps him under control.

Mackenzie is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Carvalho has a hand on Mackenzie's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Mackenzie takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Carvalho tries to hold on but Mackenzie postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mackenzie can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carvalho is looking to escape.
Mackenzie prevents Carvalho from getting the reversal.
Mackenzie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Carvalho is trying to escape the mount.
Mackenzie controlling from the full mount.
Mackenzie is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Carvalho can do to turn this around?
Carvalho is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Mackenzie has taken his back.
Gabriel Carvalho has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Mackenzie is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Carvalho taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Mackenzie.
